About the Book

When Jane and her family make a big move, she becomes determined to get back to the place she once called home, even if she has to fly there herself! Early readers follow seven-year-old Jane as she works through both confidence and doubt, obstacles and opportunities to build her own plane and reach new heights. Written in verse, Plane Jane offers a warm, humorous tale of empowerment for children ages 4-7.

What I find so unique about The Almost Adventures of Plain Jane is that Aja Dorsey Jackson moves beyond representation in her new children’s book. She leverages her platform and gives the reader a “so what?”, educating young black girls about famous 20th and 21st century explorers. I love!
